Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 4 Date: 2009-09-09 Summary: Who cares if it's the same version ... Princeton Review gives a great layout of the information covered on the SAT math subject tests. Rating it 1 star because it's the same content as before is foolish... The test didn't change sine 200-2009. If one were to pick on Princeton Review they should point out that they only have two of each of the tests. ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2010-01-21 Summary: Much better than the College Board Books ... I originally bought the College Board books for my boys along with the Chemistry book by Princeton Review in a first purchase. They could not stand the College Board version of this book and asked if I could please get the Princeton Review version. They really enjoy the approach Princeton Review takes, realistic and explanatory, as opposed to the College Board's method of simply showing the answer and not how it was arrived at. Hope this review helps you! ...more

Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-08-29 Summary: Love this book ... I think this is a great book for ACT math prep. It has 5 practice tests that all seem well written. It breaks down the math section into major topics (pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trig, etc), then covers specific types of problems within each major topic. There are mini-tests over each category too, which I think is really helpful. I've pretty much used the book cover to cover. I have found 2 errors though and it doesn't cover every math topic you need to know for the test. ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-08-11 Summary: Wonderful! ... I purchased this book because math is my weakest subject on the act. I was scoring a 16 on the act test, I need a 20 for the promise scholarship in WV, it pays for your tuition. I just read some of the tips, and nothing else and it raised my score 1 point to a 17. Finally this summer I have used this book almost weekly, to get ready for the ACT test in September. When I took the first diagnostic exam in the book it said an 16, I am on my second test and I received a 20! i am so excited because there is 3 mores tests ...more
[3] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-04-09 Summary: a great resource! ... preparing for the ACT? this is a great book to get, as the math section of the test is where one can improve most by studying. the questions on the practice tests mirror those from real tests (from the official ACT guide) - yet the explanations are far superior to those in the official guide. they are concise, straightforward and easily understood - so much so that my son wished he had this book as a study guide for his math classes. the glossary alone is worth the purchase price - as it highlights all the formulas ...more
[4] Rating: 5 Date: 2010-01-29 Summary: Highly recommended for ACT Math review ... I scanned through the ACT review math books before deciding to purchase this one. I am glad I did. This book provides a full range of the math problems on the ACT test and also provides full explanations of the answers if you come across a problem you just can't figure out. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is planning on taking the ACT test. ...more

Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 4 Date: 2009-04-22 Summary: Useful drills! ... Quite a useful book to provide a set of drills around common SAT problems. There are really no tutorials in there so wouldn't recommend it as a book to learn from. personally thought the structure around how the topics were broken up and then the questions within the topics [Easy/Medium/Hard] made it very approachable..my 13 year old went thru it pretty quickly and found it useful to highlight areas to work on. ...more
[2] Rating: 4 Date: 2010-02-10 Summary: Good Workout, Need Supplemental Material to Learn ... This is a great book if you want to practice problems. There is only a small section in the back that give you the basics of each subject matter. However, if you're finding that there is one type of problem that you have trouble, you will need to reference another source. The "Essentials" chapter in the back will not be enough to teach you or help you review math concepts. Overall, I think this book will be good for practicing medium to hard questions. ...more
[3] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-10-09 Summary: Very well organized and useful information ... This book consists of 100 important things or remember for the SAT I Math. I was surprised how informative this book is. I am an SAT Math I tutor, and not only did this book help me to review what I know, but also gave me the idea to plan to teach well. Each section provides certain parts to review and comes with example questions, from easy, medium, to hard questions. This is great, since the SAT I math questions are listed from easy to hard questions in each section, so the students must be prepared for easy questions ...more

Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-06-25 Summary: Awesome Review Book!!! ... This is a great book for any high school student who wants to score high on the SAT II Math Level 2. I prepared only from this book for about three weeks, and received a 760 on the real SAT Math Level 2. It is evident that this book contains much harder questions than the real thing, but that is just what makes this book so great. The fact of the matter is that when I took the test, I breezed through the harder questions because this Barrons book taught me that the hard questions are easy. This is overall the BEST ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-05-29 Summary: Only Book I Needed for a 780 ... Ok, I know some people are shooting for perfect 800s, but I was scoring in like the 600s on my first practice test, and with a little help from this book, I achieved a 780. Sure, there are some errors in here, but it's like that with almost all of the prep book companies out there. I believe it's just something you have to get used to. The questions in this book are definitely tough-- tougher than the real thing, in my opinion. But that just helps you over-prepare and score higher! Kaplan and PR's practice questions ...more

Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-02-10 Summary: Great learning material ... This book is a great resource for someone who wants to review and brush up his/her knowledge of math. It will teach you what you do not know, it will also re-teach [you] what you already know and in addition, you will learn new things that were initially scary to you as a young math student. [3] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-06-05 Summary: Back to School ... This book is basically a short refresher course on highschool mathematics. Just like the title says, it's all you'll ever need in your daily life- and then some. I managed to work my way through it in just over two months, picking my way through it day by day. When I was finished, I was surprised and pleased with how much I learned. A well put together book. Six months later, though, I am slowly forgetting. Will need to go back and work through it again some time this year. Like exercise, you have to keep at it. Make ...more

Grapes Of Math (bkshelf) (Scholastic Bookshelf)

Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-03-08 Summary: Great book for a fun look at math. ... I will look into other ways to puchase my books rather than have Amazon sit on my order while they process other orders. If the only way to get an order in a resonable time is to pay for PRIME, I will shop elsewhere. I will not pay to a company to be a customer. ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-11-23 Summary: Beyond ones ... The Grapes Of Math by Greg Tang is a book that encourages groupings of numbers in order to assist in quick addition. It shows a different way of looking at a group of objects - snails, grapes, fish etc. and looking for ways to group them into smaller numbers that are quicker to add together instead of just counting them by ones. A great sequel to Tang's book Math Fables, and perfect for when your child is progressing to more advanced work with numbers such as counting by 2, 5, etc. as a precurser to multiplying numbers. ...more
[3] Rating: 4 Date: 2007-10-16 Summary: Great for upper elementary - beginner middle school ... This book is "cute". It forces students to look at arrays of objects and find shortcuts for finding totals. I teach in the middle school grades and have this on my bookshelf for kids looking for something to read during a study hall. Might be a nice supplement to an elementary math program. My two year old son really liked the poems (of course couldn't do the math) and the pictures were really interesting for him to look at. ...more
[4] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-01-14 Summary: Excellent little book ... I bought this for my second grader. She likes the rhymes and the riddles, and is enjoying the math challenges. A great way of making math fun! ...more
[5] Rating: 4 Date: 2009-03-22 Summary: Grapes of Math in the Classroom ... Although the book is very elementary,as a middle school teacher I have used it with my ESL students that have only been in the US for just 15 months. A few of these students have never had any formal education so their skills are still on a very low level. They have enjoyed the book and done well. ...more

CliffsNotes Math Review for Standardized Tests
Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2010-02-10 Summary: I hate math, but I love this book! ... I am planning to take the GMAT so I bought this book to review before I start getting into quant on the GMAT. I never enjoyed math in high school (which was over 6 years ago), nor was it my best subject, and during college I only had to take one statistics class. When I sat down to review math I honestly didn't even remember how to do long division without using a calculator, simply because I haven't needed to do that for years!! I am halfway through this book now and it's really helpful. It starts off easy and reviews ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-10-29 Summary: Well worth the price!! Invaluable! ... I bought this book along with the Kaplan books to study for the GRE after being out of college for 11 years. I was never good at math, and never liked it. With this book I had trememdous success teaching myself, and here's the kicker - I even enjoyed it at times! For Amazon's price of less than $6, it is absolutely invaluable. If it taught me only how to solve one type of word problem it would have been worth that much, but it taught me much, much more. Lots of practice problems and exercises. I did significantly better ...more
[3] Rating: 5 Date: 2010-02-05 Summary: Great overview of algebra, geometry and tricky math ... This book is like a math dictionary, very thorough and covers all the confusing concepts of math. I found it so helpful that I decided to keep it indefinitely in case I ever have to look up something. ...more
[4] Rating: 5 Date: 2010-02-20 Summary: Huge improvement ... It had been about 10 years since I was in high school and solving math problems on a regular basis. [5] Rating: 4 Date: 2009-11-26 Summary: Useful tool for those with rusty math ... I didn't do much math in high school - switched to languages at a young age. Now I'm faced with the dreaded GRE. To make matters worse, I've only been given a month or so to learn everything I need to know. Admittedly, this is an impossible task, but this book is going a long way towards helping me understand concepts that I've never seen before. It is well-written, with loads of examples and exercises each step of the way. I have found, however, that every now and then a step seems to be missed in the examples. In ...more
