I originally bought the College Board books for my boys along with the Chemistry book by Princeton Review in a first purchase. They could not stand the College Board version of this book and asked if I could please get the Princeton Review version. They really enjoy the approach Princeton Review takes, realistic and explanatory, as opposed to the College Board's method of simply showing the answer and not how it was arrived at. It breaks down the math section into major topics (pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trig, etc), then covers specific types of problems within each major topic. There are mini-tests over each category too, which I think is really helpful. I've pretty much used the book cover to cover. I have found 2 errors though and it doesn't cover every math topic you need to know for the test. ...more

I was scoring a 16 on the act test, I need a 20 for the promise scholarship in WV, it pays for your tuition. I just read some of the tips, and nothing else and it raised my score 1 point to a 17. Finally this summer I have used this book almost weekly, to get ready for the ACT test in September. There is only a small section in the back that give you the basics of each subject matter. However, if you're finding that there is one type of problem that you have trouble, you will need to reference another source. Ok, I know some people are shooting for perfect 800s, but I was scoring in like the 600s on my first practice test, and with a little help from this book, I achieved a 780. It shows a different way of looking at a group of objects - snails, grapes, fish etc. and looking for ways to group them into smaller numbers that are quicker to add together instead of just counting them by ones.
